Library Policies

The following policies govern how we use our library.

Acceptable use of the internet and library's public computers

The Caseyville Public Library District is pleased to offer computer & internet access.  Our computers are for educational, instructional and informative purposes. 

This library encourages all library patrons to be informed users and carefully evaluate any information obtained via the Interenet.

USER QUALIFICATIONS:  Computer users must have NO outstanding overdue fines or fees.  All users must read the library computer usage policy and sign the agreement.

TIME LIMIT:  Computer use may be restricted to one hour if others are waiting.

AGE LIMIT:  Computer use is restricted for those under 14 unless a parent or guardian supervised at the computer.  Special arrangmenets must be made with staff if a parent cannot be present for homework assignments only.

PRINTING AND DOWNLOADING:  Computer user is responsible for all copies ade.  Recycled paper is 10 cents each, good paper is 20 cents each and color copies are $1.00 each.  There is no downloading onto Caseyville Library computer hard drives.  There is no downloading software from the Caseyville Pblic Library District computers onto a disk.

COMPUTER OPERATION:  Computers are to be turned on and off by staff only and they are to be shut down 15 minuted prior to the cloasing hour.

HEADPHONES:  Headphones are available but must be requested for use from staff.

OFF LIMIT SITES:  There are absolutely NO GAMES, NO CHAT ROOMS, NO XXX (PORNOGRAPHY), NO RESPONDING ON MESSAGE BOARDS.  Anyone violating this rule may be banned or restrictly indefinitely from computer use.

UNATTENDED CHILD POLICY

The caseyville Public Library welcomes children of all ages to use and enjoy the facilities, collections and programs offered by the library.  The library attempts to provide a safe environment.

To provide for the general welfare and safety of all people using he library, parents, a responsible adult or legal guardian must accept the responsibility of supervising their children.

All children who are unattended must have a related purpose in visiting the library -- finding a book. reading a book, doing homework.  The llibrary is not to be used as a babysitting service.

If there is any inappropriate behavior in the library, the child/children will be asked to leave.  Inappropriate behavior includes running, shouting, pushing, rowdy or rambunctioys activities which includes inside and outside the building or as deemed by staff.

The Caseyville Public Library District Staff is not responsible for children left unattended.  If that child is asked to leave for inapropriate behavior or becase of closing hours, the staff will attempt to call a parent or other responsible caregiver providing the staff has a current phone number.  If no one can be reached at that time, the police will be notified.
