Freedom of Information

Public Acts

Freedom of Information (FOIA)

"The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) generally provides that any person has the right to request access to federal agency records or information except to the extent the records are protected from disclosure by any of nine exemptions contained in the law or by one of three special law enforcement record exclusions."
U.S. Department of State; August 2017

Open Meetings Act (OMA)

"The Open Meetings Act is a state law that requires that meetings of public bodies be open to the public except in certain specific, limited situations (discussed in more detail below) where the law authorizes the public body to close a meeting."
Illinois Attorney General; January 2013

Cards for Kids

Non-Resident Cards

Tax Bill Method:

Individuals who reside outside the Caseyville Public Library District limits are required by Illinois State Law to purchase a card by paying a fee equivalent to the locally assessed library tax. Non-resident fees are calculated using a tax bill method.

Non-residents who choose to purchase cards must provide the documentation necessary to calculate the fee. In most cases, this will be a current tax bill or rental agreement. The non-resident family is paid annually.

A family is defined as individuals residing at the same address.

No fee will be less than $25 if a tax or rental bill does not apply.
